My brother and I had a nice Thanksgiving together.
Work has been crazy.
Life has been busy.
I'll update properly tomorrow.

Last night's workout kicked my ass. Sgt. Fitness had me working on my arms again, which I love. That's not to say I love everything he makes me do, of course. For example, he had me sit on a bench and then I had to lower my butt off the edge towards the floor and lift myself back up....I know there's a name for that exercise but I can't think of it. Anyway, the first couple weren't so bad but by the end of the second set my arms were shaking. I was pretty darn proud of myself for hauling my butt off the floor so many times! LOL
I also did this angled curl dealie with a 20 pound dumb bell, which showed me my left arm isn't quite as strong as my right one. Sgt. Fitness had to help a tiny bit with the last few reps I did on the left side, but I still felt spiffy for using 20 pound weights.
After that I got on the treadmill and stayed at an 18 incline for 55 minutes! *dances* I was so excited. :-P Well, okay, I wasn't excited right away. First I was hot and sweaty and tired and annoyed because my phone wouldn't play my music right. But after that, yep, pretty darn excited.
This morning I wasn't sore at all but now I'm beginning to feel the muscles I used, especially in my shoulders. I love it! It's so neat to find out what my body can do.
And on that note, since this is the week of Thanksgiving, I'm going to do something different. Instead of complaining about what my body isn't and can't do, I'm going to state what things about my body I am thankful for.
~ I'm thankful for my strong legs, which take me everywhere I need to go.
~ I'm thankful for my hands, they help me make a living and they look like my Mom's.
~ I'm thankful for the little leaf shaped birth mark on the back of my thigh, which makes me unique.
~ I'm thankful for my eyes that change color when I'm irked.
~ I'm thankful for the stretch marks being overweight has caused, they remind me every day how far I've come and to take care of myself.
~ I'm thankful for my health, which is good and getting better every day.
Tell me what you're most thankful for about your body. :-)

First, questions from
contentcontempt .
1. When your trust has been betrayed do you find it hard to forgive?
Yes and no, I suppose it depends on the person and the situation. In general I don't hold grudges, I don't see the point, but there are always exceptions.
2. When you set goals for yourself, do you find it easy or difficult to stay focused & achieve them?
I tend to get distracted easily, so I would say it's difficult. I do great for awhile and then get sidetracked by something else. My recent gym progress is probably the first time I've been really focused on a goal and am doing pretty well with.
3. Your info page says you've only been in Alaska for 5 years.....what made you decide to move there?
My stepdad was offered a job up here so when he and my Mom got ready to move they asked if I wanted to come, and I decided to do it. I figured if I hated it I could always move back, and it would be an adventure in the meantime. I can't say Alaska entirely feels like 'home' to me, but it's growing on me more all the time.
4. What is your favorite thing to shop for?
If I'm shopping for me, that would be lotion! lol But I really love to shop for other people more than myself.
5. You've won the lottery! Now, tell me what you're going to do with all that money!??
Oooh, well, I would pay off all my bills. I would buy a house. I would set up a foundation in honor of my parents to help other families dealing with cancer. And I would go to Australia to visit
aussieteddie. :-)
And now, questions from
ayoub.
1. Who was your first crush?
Hmmm...that would probably be a boy named Pat. He was tall, a few years older than me, had really black hair and the prettiest brown eyes. Yep, he was dreamy. lol What's funny about that is I actually ended up going on a date with him when I was older and it totally burst the bubble!
2. What was your last dream about?
Last night I dreamed I was making a snowman, and the snow was pale blue instead of white.
3. If you could award a million dollars to one charity, which charity would you choose?
American Cancer Society
4. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I really wanted to be a veterinarian until I found out I would actually have to cut open the animals to help them. Nope, couldn't do that to a poor defenseless puppy, so that went right out the window!
5. What is your favourite song right now?
At the moment I love Bon Jovi's 'We Weren't Born to Follow'.

I'm so excited! *happy dance*
The Zumba class put me at exactly 930 minutes completed. :-) And I still have the rest of this week to go! It's a really great feeling to accomplish this. Thank you again
I've worked harder the last few months on myself than I probably have in my entire life. It's still a strange feeling to put myself first. It takes effort. The fact that I'm enjoying the gym makes it a lot easier. I like lifting weights, I like learning new exercises, and I like seeing how high I can get that incline on the treadmill, so it's fun for me to go. That was never the case before.
The eating part is a LOT more difficult. I didn't eat very well this weekend. Oh I've definitely eaten worse, but I feel yucky today because of it and am kind of kicking myself. Overall though I have made a vast improvement on what I eat. I've drastically reduced the amount of red meat I eat, I've pretty much cut out liquid satan, and I rarely drink lattes. I eat a lot more veggies and fruit than I ever used to. I drink tons of water and I found tea that I love. I track everything on the gym's nutrition website and am learning more all the time about how what I eat affects me.
One thing that has struck me lately is the whole 'endorphin rush' thing. I have to be honest, when I was going to the YMCA I thought it was a load of crap and that people were hallucinating. lol Because when I would get done working out I felt awful. I was happy for getting to the Y and doing the exercise, but I would leave there exhausted and downright cranky.
Now I'm starting to see what people are always talking about. Maybe you have to stick with it longer than I did before to get the effect, I really don't know, but I can tell you that I'm finally feeling amazing while I'm working out and for quite awhile after I get done. Don't get me wrong, I get tired on that treadmill and I get tired with my trainer, but it's a good kind of tired and completely different from how I felt at the Y.
I know I ramble on and on about all this lately but the difference it has made in how I feel, both physically and mentally, is just shocking to me. I haven't felt this good about myself in years, and I still have around 50 pounds to lose! I can't wait to find out what I will feel like when I hit my goal.
Now to think of a challenge for November...
